John McAfee preparing legal complaint against Hitbtc

John McAfee continues to aim criticism at cryptocurrency exchange Hitbtc – and it’s about to get legal…

The growing war of words between high profile cryptocurrency advocate John McAfee and crypto exchange Hitbtc is set to escalate further.

The pair exchanged Tweets at the start of the month (see below), following McAfee’s initial criticism over Hitbtc’s barriers to being listed, and how that impacted the Docademic project that McAfee has been an advocate for. Docademic is a project trying to ensure basic universal health care.

Now, though, after a period of apparent silence, McAfee is upping the ante, as per his latest Tweet. And as you can see, he wants others to join him in his complaint…

No response has thus far been forthcoming from Hitbtc. We’ll keep an eye on the story…

Here’s our story from July 3rd 2018

The controversial high profile crypto investor and advocate John McAfee has been doubling down on his criticism of cryptocurrency exchange Hitbtc, in a new series of Tweets from his Twitter account.

As we reported at the end of last month, McAfee had called for a boycott of Hitbtc, arguing that crypto exchanges had too much power. Specific to Hitbtc, he Tweeted that “I will be your worst enemy until you prove that you are aligned with our community and are truly interested in helping the poor. You have not done shit to help access the only free healthcare in the world”.

Hitbtc had initially not got involved in the Twitter conversation but, in the light of McAfee’s recent hospitalisation, it then posted the following to its own feed…

And that drew the following response from McAfee (although he later corrected his phone number)…

That led to a more formal answer from Hitbtc, following the exchange attracting criticism for how it had dealt with McAfee and his arguments…

McAfee has since clarified on his own feed that he’s an investor in health care project Docademic, a cryptocurrency whose aim is free basic health provision around the world. It seems that Docademic has fallen foul of Hitbtc’s barriers to entry…

Hitbtc has not yet replied to McAfee’s latest Tweets. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
