US state Arizona may be considering a huge leap in the way it allows citizens to pay their taxes, as officials begin discussing the use of Bitcoin.
One bill being looked at proposes that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies be recognised as currency like any other, reports FOX News, and another wants Arizona taxpayers to be able to use virtual currency to pay their taxes.
Arizona State Rep Jeff Weninger said: “It’s one of the a litany of bills that we’re running that is sending a signal to everyone in the United States, and possibly throughout the world, that Arizona is going to be the place to be for blockchain and digital currency technology in the future.
“The ease of use, being able to fo it in the middle of the night, being able to do it at home while you’re watching TV. I think in a few years this isn’t even going to be a question.”
It’s a huge vote of confidence for cryptocurrency at a time when steps forward are coupled with banks and other institutions banning crypto transactions.
