Coinbase is ready to add Ethereum Classic to its products list, with final testing expected to be completed this week.
In a tweet from the company’s offical account, Coinbase stated that it aims to announce the news officially by Tuesday 7th August, when it will be ready to accept inbound transfers of ETC.
In a follow-up statement, it added: “We intend to allow 24-48 hours of inbound transfers before enabling trading of Ethereum Classic on @CoinbasePro and Prime.”
According to a blog post published on Friday, Coinbase Custody is also looking to add various existing and upcoming crypto assets for storage purposes, though not for trading at this time.
“Coinbase Custody is exploring the addition of many existing and forthcoming crypto assets for storage only, and will be working to add them as quickly and safely as possible,” it reads. “At this time, we have not yet considered these assets for trading.
“We are making this announcement internally at Coinbase and to the public at the same time to remain transparent with our customers about support for future assets.”
The list of assets being explored include XRP, Monero, Bitcoin Gold, Telegram and a lot more besides.
Last week it was reported that Coinbase would be allowing UK customers to spend their GBP on crypto, and would provide them with same-day payments and withdrawals.
Zeeshan Feroz, CEO of Coinbase UK, said: “UK banks have been conservative in terms of working with crypto businesses and we’re proud to be one of the first companies to get access to domestic banking.”
