South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb and mobile payments service provider Pay’s are partnering up in order to bring cryptocurrency to 6,000 outlets by mid-2018.
In a major move for the nation, the initial target of 6,000 sites jumps to a planned 80,000 by year end, and around 200 franchise brands have reportedly already signed up to the initiative.
The partnership will enable crypto adopters to pay at these outlets using Pay’s service, and Bithumb hopes this will help increase adoption in mainstream society.
It said: “We have taken a landmark step. We will try hard to set up an environment in which cryptocurrencies are used extensively.”
