One in five financial institutions are considering cryptocurrency trading within the next year, a new survey has revealed.
Thompson Reuters has published the results of a recent survey, which showed that of the institutions willing to trade cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, 70 per cent of them are planning to do so in the next three to six months.
More than 400 clients were surveyed as part of the study, a pool that includs large asset managers, hedge funds and trading desks at large banks.
The interest in crypto trading amongst these institutions was likely bolstered by the rise in value at the tail end of last year and, despite a significant drop not long after, prices have now begun seeing a small resurgence.
These results are not only notable because of the number of instituions willing to look into crypto trading, but also the short time frame so many are giving.
