“I just want the stage”, says John McAfee of his US President bid

John McAfee pledges a US presidential campaign about telling the truth…

As runners and riders jostle for position ahead of the 2020 US Presidential race, controversial cryptocurrency advocate John McAfee is one of the few to actively declare that he’s intending to run. And to our knowledge, he’s the only one who’s declared he’s going to run, and has declared too that he no intention, or desire, to actually win.

He appears to now be seeking the nomination to be the candidate for the Libertarian Party. He previously sought to do so back in 2016, but ultimately lost out on his bid that time. Ahead of 2020, he’s dabbled with the idea of setting up his own political party, but instead looks to be trying to get the Libertarian Party seal again.

Whether he gets it or not, he’s definitely running. And he insists he’s doing so in order to raise issues of cryptocurrency, blockchain, security and more.

He’s doubled down on this in one of his latest Tweets, where he discusses his upcoming challenge to incumbent President Donald Trump. “I don’t want to win POTUS”, he declares, as if there’s much doubt left there. “I just want the stage. I will tell the truth”.

There’s plenty of road ahead in the race for the nomination, with primaries some way off yet, and the election over two years away. However, there are already five or six candidates in the field, and more considering their position. It should be an interesting race…
