Litecoin is thriving among vendors on the dark web

Litecoin is gaining popularity on the dark web, a new report has revealed, and is now the second most popular cryptocurrency token among its vendors.

According to the study by Recorded Future (via CCN), Litecoin placed behind only behind Bitcoin when looking at message boards and marketplaces on the dark web.

The report said: “Bitcoin remains the gold standard in the dark web, with all vendors accepting it as a payment, and Litecoin emerged as the second most popular currency, with 30 per cent of all vendors who implemented alternative payment methods willing to accept it.

“Dash is closely trailing Litecoin with 20 per cent of the market. Unexpectedly, Bitcoin Cash was the third more common cryptocurrency with 13 per cent of vendors trusting it as a payment method.”

This is troubling news for the cryptocurrency, as the report warns that Litecoin could be part in the mainstream criminallity of cyber-attacks as a result.
