Jack Dorsey, CEO of social networking giant Twitter, has spoken out about his hopes for cryptocurrency in its potential to provide “greater financial access for all”.
In a tweet linking to Cash App – a service that lets users instantly buy and sell bitcoin – Dorsey said: “Instant buying (and selling, if you don’t want to hodl) of Bitcoin is now aailable to most Cash App customers. We support Bitcoin because we see it as a long-term path towards greater financial access for all. This is a small step.”
This is yet another sign that bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general are becoming more and more mainstream, with big players in the tech industry and beyond willing to state their support for its many benefits.
However, this also comes in the same week that Facebook announced it would be banning ads promoting crypto, in response to the rise of fraud.
