Is UPS creating a Bitcoin locker bank?

Shipping company UPS might be moving into bBitcoin with an item-exchange locker bank service, according to a new patent filing.

The global firm filed an application to the US Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday that cites Bitcoin as an accepted payment method alongside traditional currency, reports Coindesk.

The filing reads: “In example embodiments, the locker bank may include a point-of-sale (POS) system for accepting payment from users in the form of: (1) a cash transaction; (2) a credit or debit card transaction; (3) a gift certificate; (4) an electronic payment, such as payment by Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal, Bitcoin; and/or (5) any other suitable type of payment.”

Move such as this indicate that bitcoin could soon become a normal part of retail life, as more and more companies around the world embrace it as a viable form of currency.
